Seriously mentally ill men and women – many also facing substance abuse issues – represent a significant portion of Metropolitan Phoenix’s homeless population. NOVA’s Safe Haven seeks to provide assistance to these individuals who have been unwilling or unable to participate in other supportive services, assisting them toward stability and independence.
The NOVA Safe Haven residential program houses 25 people (18 men and seven women). Another 25 individuals are engaged in the day services program. Both the residential and day programs engage individuals and prepare them to achieve the goals of increased sufficiency, stability and greater self-determination – all which will lead to permanent housing.
NOVA Safe Haven is located on the Human Services Campus. It is the only HUD designated Safe Haven in Maricopa County. In addition to shelter, NOVA Safe Haven provides its clients with case management, nutrition education, community meetings, the availability of AA and NA as well as providing independent living skills. |
